Iowa engineers interned around the world this summer! Emmy Moore, senior in Chemical Engineering, had an amazing experience at the Marshall Space Flight Center. "I was a part of the NASA Academy and worked as a Research Associate in the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) Department. I was able to meet and work with wonderful people, and it was an unforgettable experience. I worked on an oxygen recovery system for use on long-duration, manned missions, where oxygen resupply is not an option." She did it and so can you!

Diana Gerhxhaliu, 3rd Year Civil Engineering student, spent her summer working on the railroad with Crandic. “This summer I learned how railroad construction gets put together and then supported GIS mapping of all Crandic properties. 3rd Year Mechanical Engineering student, Allison Rowe, kept busy during her summer internship at Alliant Energy. "The picture is at a wind farm in Eden Prairie, Wisconsin. I also spent time on the roof of the Edgewater Generating Station, the 12-story coal fired power plant I was stationed at over the summer, which overlooks Lake Michigan. This was my first internship experience, and I loved having the opportunity to take ownership of my own project and see it through, from learning how to use all the testing equipment to presenting a 100-page report to plant management. "

Hello from Charleston, SC! Mohammed Elobeid, Junior in Mechanical Engineering, completed a spring/summer co-op at Eaton. "During the first rotation, I was a Quality Intern where I learned how to navigate databases, present data to customers, and work in diverse teams. I can also say I contributed to the company saving around a half a million dollars in scrap cost. In the second rotation, I gained insight into operations and manufacturing engineering. I learned more about machining processes and single piece flow, creating visual work instructions and training materials, and finally, participating in a Rapid Improvement Event where we had to create and organize new work stations for upcoming aerospace projects."
